The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of Heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, nor is served with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives life and breath and all things to all.
And He has made all nations of men of one blood to dwell on all the face of the earth, ordaining fore-appointed seasons and boundaries of their dwelling, to seek the Lord, if perhaps they might feel after Him and find Him, though indeed He is not far from each one of us.
For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also certain of your own poets have said, “For we are also His offspring”. Then being offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, engraved by art and man's imagination.
Truly, then, God overlooking the times of ignorance, now He strictly commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day in which He is going to judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He appointed, having given proof to all by raising Him from the dead.
Kuvi is the second largest community, after Konda Doras living in the mountain ranges bordering Andhra Odisha Border. They come under the Protected Tribal Group. (PTG). So they are known as PTG also. In the social hierarchy the kuvi tribe falls, somewhere in the middle. There was time they were ruled and enslaved by the regional kings before and after the independence. After independence when the states are formed based on language boundaries, these people group are living scattered in Andhra, Odisha and Chattisgarh. So the family relationship crosses the political and language boundaries. There is no authentic historical documentations available related to the ancient history of the Kuvi people. Kuvi people living in 11 mandals of Visakhapatnam district; Anathagiri, Araku, Dumbriguda, Munchingput, Pedabayilu, Hukumpetta, Paderu, Gangarasa Madugula, Chintappalli, Gu:dem Kothaveedi, and Koyyuru. All these mandals are in a 225- 250 kms stretch on the hill terrain. These tribal area comes under the jurisdiction of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), under Alluri Sitarama Raju district with headquarters at Paderu. The population in these area is more than 300 thousand plus. The Jatapu population also very close to this, those who live in Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts.
The kuvi people are animists, believing in spirits. They believe the rebirth of the dead, in the same family or clan. The spirit of the died person will born in the same family or clan later. They have a place of worship 'Pneka pinda' and to offer sacrifice in the house for everyone personally and common one in the village/hamlet. There are spiritual leaders in every village", 'Pejjeni'. The position was hereditary. Usually the founder of the village becomes the chief and spiritual adviser/priest/shaman. There are specialists also. In the house there will be a place reserved to family deity. These deities are known as Gangape:nu, Gongipe:nu and Hargopollu. Gangape:nu is the deity worshipped at home. Once in a year a cock was sacrificed to this deity. Once in three years offers a sheep or goat. There will be different size of earthen pots and metal vessels. They believe the deity lives in the earthen vessels and regular pujas will be offered. Hargolu is a placed under a tree and at every harvest, first it is offered to this deity.
